The Suffers Sell Out … Again
It was a year ago this weekend that The Suffers sold out Fitzgerald’s in Houston. In fact, they were the first Houston band to sell out the legendary concert venue. Fast forward 52 weeks and their accomplishments include: touring along the East Coast, West Coast, South and Midwest; playing incredible festivals like Newport Folk Festival, Voodoo Experience Festival and Hangout Music Festival; rocking the furniture at NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert; and playing the David Letterman Show. And as of this weekend, you can add selling out another Houston venue: The Continental Club.
Within a matter of hours of announcing their two back-to-back Release Party dates, both shows were sold out. Their Album Release week events also include an appearance on Great Day Houston, a Vinyl Listening Party at The Nightingale Room, and an In-Store Appearance at Cactus Music. They chose Valentine’s Day as the weekend to host the shows, and what a perfect choice, considering the amount of love their hometown of Houston has for them.
The momentum behind them is intoxicating. Every time I look their direction, they are on to something bigger and better. And, as a fan, I couldn’t be prouder of them or more excited for what’s in store. In 2015, they closed out their sold-out show with the words: “We love you, Houston. And, we hope that everything we do from here on out makes you proud.” I think it’s safe to say that Houston is proud. I’m pretty sure they are IN LOVE. Happy Valentine’s Day, Houston. XOXO
