risk-2Kevin Allison brought his podcast, Risk!, to Houston on Valentine’s Day weekend for a live taping. The four superb story tellers were not only all women, but first-timers to boot. Kevin kicked off the night with an origin-story of sorts: the journey that led him to find his niche bringing outrageous and touching true stories to the stage. The performances that followed were brave, to say the least. At times the tales were funny and raunchy, others heartbreaking and sobering. Above all, they were honest and open, which is quite a feat while facing a room of strangers.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an audience at Fitzgerald’s become so silent as we collectively hung on the words of a lone voice on stage. It made for a memorable night and if Risk! comes back to Houston, it’s a show that shouldn’t be missed.
