Mixed Media & Soul & Disco
This Saturday you have a tough choice. There’s three great parties happening. Which will you pick? Or will you party hop like a champion?
The Suffers
Saturday, 7pm – 11:30pm
Orange Show, 2402 Munger Street
Tickets are $15 presale and $20 at the door.
One of the best and biggest jazz bands in Houston, The Suffers, will be playing their last show in Houston before their new single is released. Last year, The Suffers won not one but three 2012 Houston Press Music Awards for “Best New Act,” “Best Reggae/Ska Dub” and “Best Female Vocalist.” They don’t mess around. Warming the crowd up will be DJ Meshak and 3 comedians: Brian Zeolla, Josh Brokaw and Dusti Rhodes! So get there early for extra fun. Connect with them preshow on twitter and facebook!
MFAH Mixed Media Party
Saturday, 8pm – Midnight
Museum of Fine Arts, 1001 Bissonnet
Tickets are $16 presale
Browse the Museum of Fine Arts like you never have before. (Unless you’ve been to a Mixed Media Party before, that is!) The MFAH and the Mixed Media event sponsor IKEA, transform the museum into full sensory overload. The Picasso Black & White exhibit will be open while La Catrin and DJs play all night. Flash your pearly whites at the Smilebooth or test your vocal chords at the Cover Me Badd Karaoke Booth. And the Happy Endings food truck will be on hand if all that dancing gets you hungry. Follow the action on twitter with hash tag #MixedMedia.
WE DO IT FOR THE LOVE
Saturday, 10pm – 2am
The Flat, 1701 Commonwealth
No cover: FREE
Put the week behind you and get your feet on the dance floor. WE DO IT FOR THE LOVE residents, Henry Chow and Sasha Braverman, will be playing sweet housey, jazzy, funky records all because they do it for the love. Show them some love and show up to dance. Connect with the folks pre-dancefloor by joining the conversation on facebook.
No excuses for having a boring weekend, folks. Not in Houston.
