It’s Pride Week in Houston! All the events happening this week are all leading up to one final celebration: Pride Parade! The party starts early, so make sure to plan for a full day of walking, drinking and fun. This Saturday, June 23rd, the Montrose neighborhood will shut down the streets for a giant block party celebtrating LGBT equality and awareness. The festival starts at 1pm and runs until 7pm, giving you some time to make it to the parade which begins at 8:15pm. An estimated 60,000 people are expected to attend the festival and 300,000 are expected at the parade.. Entrance to both the festival and the parade is free, but if you’re aching for a VIP experience, you can donate $100-1000 to Pride Houston, the non-profit behind all the festivities of Pride Week. Your donation will help them fund Pride Week and their programs year-round. Perks can include bleacher seating, private restrooms, complimentary food and drinks, parking passes, public recgonition and a pre-parade reception. If $100 is out of your price range but you are still interested in supporting, you can donate the amount of your choice at the information booths at each entrance. The Grand Marshall’s this year will be Jenifer Poole, Nicholas Brines, Ellen Cohen and Madison Hildebrand. Jenifer, Nicholas and Ellen are all Houstonians with a pride for Pride. Madison is from Malibu and can be seen on Bravo as the star of “Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles.” If you have never been to Pride Parade, you certainly should check it out. Grab a friend to guide you around the festival and parade and prepare for a fabulous day of fun!

Festival begins at 1pm; Parade begins at 8:15pm.
The Festival is held South of Westheimer along Commonwealth and Yoakum.
