#FridayFinds: OK GO
My little sister ventured to SXSW at some point when she was in high school and came back raving about this band that danced. Then she showed me this video and my jaw dropped.
A few months later we saw them live at the Proletariat, which hopefully lots of us still remember. The stage was barely big enough for the whole band to fit on and the audience totalled to about 100-120 people (which meant it was pretty packed). They went tthroughtheir whole set and we hadn’t heard “the song” yet. Out of pure excitement and anticipation, but not a shred of dignity, I screamed “DANCE!” (and then immediately regretted it and hoped they couldn’t figure out who I was fast enough to teach me a lesson. They had already called up a really drunk guy to the stage to embarrass him…so I was pretty much sliding to the floor at that point.)
Flash forward to now and OK GO has continued to keep up with their zaney dance moves and ingeniously creative music videos and interactive dance projects. And the best news of all–they are headed to Houston next April with their 2015 tour for their brand new album Hungry Ghost. So, mark your calendars and get your tickets. And don’t scream DANCE even though you’re going to reallllly, reallly want to.
Pick up your tickets to the 2015 Tour and the Hungry Ghosts album while you’re at it.
