Festivals, and Parties, and Concerts! Oh, my!
There is a lot going on in Houston this weekend, folks! If you are bored, it’s your own fault. Sorry, but it’s the truth. Someone had to be the one to say it. 😉 I’ve listed out below all of my recommendations for the best unique and fun events happening in Houston this weekend. For a visual view, take a peek at the Lauren Ignited calendar.
Friday:
WHAM preview party Come get the first peek at the handicrafts of Houston’s best artists and do some holiday shopping while you’re at it. Light bites and libations will be provided and the ticket is only $10, benefiting Fresh Arts. RSVP and get ticket info on their official facebook invite or website.
MFAH Mixed Media by IKEA Another installation of a night filled with music, art and drinks! This go around includes artists Brandon West & the Black Hats as well as LIMB. RSVP and get ticket info on their official facebook invite.
David Ramirez His past two tours through Houston have been to sold out audiences and this time around may be no different. David’s style has been coined as “Folk-brewed Pop.” He is a wandering, soul-searching, singer-songwriter with a love for Americana. Get tickets while you can and RSVP to the official facebook invite.
Saturday:
WHAM Shop to your heart’s desire from 11am to 8pm at Winter Street Studios. Admission is free and the market is overflowing with locally made crafted objects, artwork, photography, jewelry, handbags, and more. Plenty of options for knocking out your holiday shopping while supporting local. #SLGT! RSVP to their official facebook invite or website.
Via Colori Seriously one of my favorite festivals in Houston. Artists take to the streets and create mini to massive murals, with all proceeds benefiting the Center for Hearing and Speech, right here in Houston. There is a great line up of bands playing two stages, both days and lots of fun activities for the whole family. For instance, there is a scavenger hunt held each day. Clues can be picked up at the entrance for a $10 donation. The festival has moved from it’s Sam Houston Park home to the streets surrounding Houston’s City Hall. Don’t miss the multi-city block tribute to Houston mural. It’s going to be amazing. Check out their website or twitter to learn more about the fest and keep up to date with the artist’s progress. All of that and admission is free!
Draft Festival We take beer week seriously in Houston. The Draft Festival is a full day craft beer and food festival held at Guadalupe Plaza Park. There’s a long list of breweries to chose from with your 12 drink tickets. Admission starts at $25 for Designated Drivers, $40 for enjoyers of craft beer and lots more options if you’d like to add in some extra perks. Grab your tickets and help raise funds for Live it Big, a non-profit that raises funds for local charities.
Sunday:

Bill Cosby Not much I need to say here. Bill Cosby is coming to Houston’s Arena Theatre to deliver some old fashioned stand up. I hope it includes at least one joke about a puddin pop. 🙂 Grab your tickets before they’re gone!
