Pick Four: Ohana Festival & Luau

ohana

On August 27th & 28th the Ohana music festival will make its debut at Doheny State Beach near Dana Point California. A portion of the proceeds from this new-born gem will be donated to The San Onofre Parks Foundation. This non-profit organization works to create and preserve California’s beautiful coastal state parks in collaboration with the State Parks themselves. A worthy cause indeed!

Doheny State Beach dons the festival this year and what a weekend it will be! Headliners include Eddie Vedder, Elvis Costello, Lana Del Rey, Mudhoney and Corrine Bailey Ray. As all festival going veterans know, fledgling fests usually experience a hiccup or two. So help the organizers out here, and if you attend use your festival etiquette!

The evening of August 26th Eddie Vedder and Kelly Slater invite festival goers to kick off the fundraising at a special Luau held in the Ballroom of the Ritz-Carlton San Niguel. Be aware that tickets for this special event are expensive. It is a charity night and is not included as part of your weekend pass.

In addition to the music, there will be a “Surf and Ocean Awareness” exhibit hosted by 11-time world surfing champion Kelly Slater. Along with craft beers, top-notch food vendors, and the ability to dip your toes in the sand and sea as you experience all this, it seems that Ohana should become an instant success. For full line-ups and activities go to their website and remember to support this worthwhile cause by attending. Lauren ignited and I are happy to introduce our number 4 pick and to help get this promising event off to a grand start by sharing its premiere with you! Grab your surfboards and head south guys. This one is definitely not to be missed!
